Note: This is an unfinished snippet that I have no plans on continuing.
The trainer yawns, slumping down into her seat as the sleepless nights took their appropriate toll on her body. The Z-A Royale was fun, but, shit, it did not help with the jet lag at all.
A faint clink of ice bumping into each other filled the air as her drink went ignored, sitting idly among a myriad of tableware and foodstuffs from her and her Aegislash’s nice little brunch table. The drink itself was nearly empty, with only a little bit of syrupy liquid left undisturbed on the bottom, slowly diluting itself as the ice melted. The sweetened caffeinated drink that had once occupied the glass was not enough to keep the girl from dozing off in her seat.
In response, a large velveteen hand lightly grabs her shoulder from across the table, jolting her awake with a solid shake or two.
Hey. Wake up.
The ghost-type chides her, a metallic twang tinged with the barest hint of annoyance while his voice projected straight into her head instead.
Really, now?
“...’Jus give me five — no, ten minutes, Caled,” she whines, pouting as she slumps further down on her chair, tailbone aching from the weird angle she’d contorted herself in. She readjusts herself accordingly after she feels her hips slide a little bit too close off the edge of the seat, prompting a bit of a scramble as she repositions herself, lest she fall out of it entirely.
She hears the sword sigh from across her, watching him through half-lidded eyes as he rolls his singular eye in response.
And what if you get pickpocketed, huh? He says, scanning the crowd — of lack of, actually, — around them. While the city’s hustle and bustle was ever-present, it was a relatively secluded establishment, even with the al fresco seating arrangement that the two had. I swear, if you come crying to me after…
“Ugh. Come on,” she whines, letting the n drag a bit too long as she leans forward, arms folded on the table, head ready to plop down any minute on top of them. “You’re right there. Both you and I stayed up all night for that Royale thingy, at least give me a wink or two or something.”
She feels a singular finger poke at her from the top, giving her a clearly irritated noogie before it melts down into idle scratching. She lets her head fall onto her arms, nestling her face between them just right to block off enough light from filtering through her eyelids.
…Fine. Ten minutes. No more, no less.
The trainer smiles, leaning into the sensation on her scalp as her Aegislash concedes, letting herself doze off into comfortable nothingness as sleep takes her over.
