An undead swordsman. Karin's "signature" Pokemon. Was once the ruler of a powerful kingdom, famed for his conquests and victories in war, but later had fell from grace after angering his own vassals due to his own greed and pride.

Personality

A stubborn man who's trying to take it easy. A bit of a sleaze.

Very confident in himself, but often borders on arrogance at times. Despite this, he is reliable and rarely backs down from his words or promises. He is also rather charismatic, and easily gets along with people as well, but can come off as two-faced at times.

Tends to be overprotective of things. Can be a bit overbearing.

Hates breaking promises, though he once had a tendency to twist people's words to his own benefit if possible. Can be manipulative at times.

Life (Pre-Death)

Hails from the Kingdom of Isarna, located to the west of Kalos, and is a descendant of the Ishild clan, one of the major noble families that came from the land. The youngest son of Friedrich and Kriemhild VI.

Around his late childhood, he had acquired his partner Pokemon, a Deino. He found her injured and alone nearby the manor where he had been training at. He had attempted to nurse the Pokemon back to health despite receiving warnings from his teachers to not mess with the dragon, due to the fearsome reputation that its adult form had. Regardless, he kept the Pokemon under his wing, and the two became close over the years.

In his early adult life, he was among the few elected to be the next in line to be the next monarch of the kingdom, by the kingdom's royal Aegislash and the council that tended to it, shortly after the death of the previous reigning monarch. He was then chosen among the other elected candidates, and subsequently took on the throne and the title of the kingdom's monarch.

While primarily known for his prowess in the battlefield, he was a skilled strategist and negotiator. His reign enjoyed relative prosperity in its early years as well. His early campaigns secured the kingdom large swathes of fertile and resource-filled land. This also pleased many of his vassals, the most loyal of which had been blessed with more land under their care.

He was also particularly very charismatic, and had an impressive reputation in neighboring kingdoms. This helped improve and establish new trading routes,In particular, which helped mark certain cities (namely Adelbrand) as major trade and economic centres.

He was well-regarded by the council and many others for his ability to unite nearby duchies, counties, and even kingdoms under the greater kingdom of Isarna -- despite the particularly violent and brutal methods that he chose to employ in order to do so.

However, near the end of his reign, his hold on his fiefs became stronger, much to the displeasure of his vassals. He began losing his trust in his own vassals, viewing them to be a bother or even unnecessary for maintaining his control over his kingdom. As such, laws were passed whose policies even nobility balked at, some of which raised taxes for the kingdom's lesser fiefs, or reducing the privileges given to nobility by their titles, to name a few. Furthermore, he had been falling deeper into his more hedonistic vices, which also drew him some ire from the council that had once greatly supported him and his campaigns.

At some point, he soon loses the "blessing" that was bestowed upon him by the royal Aegislash and was planned to be succeeded soon after. In an attempt to stay in power, he ends up killing his sole successor out of a blind rage, and utilized his influence to keep his deeds under wraps. Despite his attempts, this was not left unnoticed by some of the men in his court.

With the evident lack of the Royal Aegislash's support, rumors began to arise, exacerbated by his damaged reputation. Many vassals lost their faith in him, though a few loyalists remained.

Not long after, the castle was eventually stormed by the forces united under the Duchy of Adelbrand and her allies, whose son was set to be Viktor's successor, out of revenge. Dwindling support for him caused him to fall under the duchess' army, and as such, he was taken prisoner.

A public trial was held shortly after his imprisonment. While initially considered for exile, he found the option particularly insulting, and instead chose death. He was beheaded in public, his body left in public as a warning for other would-be traitors until his Hydreigon stole the corpse and fled into the thick Isarnan forests.

Despite being united under the Duchy of Adelbrand initially, it did not prevent the other noble families from fighting amongst themselves in an attempt to claim the now-vacant throne. The infighting ended when a new council was finally appointed by the Royal Aegislash, who then chose a heir who was not from any of the old noble lineages of the kingdom, though this decision was not exactly met with enthusiasm from the older families.

Life (Post-death)

Shortly after his death, he was cursed with immortality by the kingdom's Royal Aegislash, with his soul bound into a certain sword. This caused him to "resurrect" as a Honedge, doomed to roam the lands until someone were to catch him.

As such, he largely avoided human contact, simmering in his own anger and disappointment at himself for letting himself fall to this state, thus retaining his Honedge form for quite some time.

Was eventually captured centuries later by Karin, a trainer who was tackling the Kalos League at the time. The trainer was persistent in catching him, as he had originally avoided her grasp when they had first met. However, with much stubbornness from both parties, the girl's own determination overtook his patience, and he decided to give it a chance, only to regret his decision shortly after. Out of his own stubbornness, he stayed in the team, but did repeatedly attempt to "convince" the trainer to let go of him through various (and eyebrow-raising) means.

The two did not get along at first. He spent quite some time being antagonistic towards his trainer and the rest of his team, believing himself to deserve far better than some "random brat that didn't know how to handle a real battle."

Despite this, he later grew very fond of the trainer despite his initial dislike of her and the rest of the team. This affection was born out of a mixture of pity (originally) and endearment, or so he claimed.

His nickname, "Caledfwlch", came from the trainer, having originally denied to give her his true name at first.

Appearance

Post-Death

A tall, pale, burly man with dirty blonde hair. Has purple irises with distinctly white pupils. Some signs of age show on his face.

Has a scar that circles the front of his neck, often hidden by clothing.

Has his hair styled in a short fringe with a side part, with a cowlick that runs along the back of his head. Typically clean shaven, aside from his sideburns. Light body hair covers his body.

Has a large scar that spans the circumference of his neck. Typically hidden by turtleneck and scarves.

Typically wears armor that is loosely based on 15th century gothic armor.

Outside of armor, he typically wears turtlenecks, hawaiian (alolan, rather,) shirts, short coats, and pants, often utilizing colors that align with his general aegislash color scheme. Particularly fond of printed shirts and layering clothing.

His true form is that of a Type XVIIIb longsword, with a brass-plated hilt and a brass-plated Type T scent stopper-esque pommel. It has a waisted leather grip, dyed yellow. A black leather rain guard is attached at the hilt, engraved with the House of Ishild sigil. He has a long and slender blade that lacks a fuller, and is left bare, free of any decor.

Pre-Death

A tall, fair, burly man with brown hair.

He has blue eyes, and has his hair typically left loose, or partially slicked back at times. Has a cowlick that runs along the back of his head. Some signs of age show on his face.

Has a short, yet full beard. Has a mustache that blends into his beard. Has a gap underneath his nose. Dark body hair covers his body.

His clothing tends to be remniscent of late 1470's to 1490's Western European fashion. Typical color choices range from yellow, black, and purple, with the occasional deeper and pinker reds and purplish blues.

His armor is typically inspired by 15th century gothic plate armor, particularly those made by Lorenz Helmschmid.

Typically drawn with the same sword that his undead self wields. May also be portrayed wearing a bollock dagger on his hip, which can either be worn on his side or hung on his midsection.
